As it started out, I was interested in making some decoys for my own spread. I started buying molds on-line and
making decoys in my kitchen with the help and guidance of what is now one of my decoy/hunting buddies. We then moved
on to a big pig scolder making a lot of heads and only 36 bodies in a few months after our full time jobs.
In August of 2006, I bought out a decoy business. Part in thanks to John LaHotek.
The business
was originally established over 30 years ago under the name J & M decoy. Since then the owners have gotten older
and health problems came on.
As a 37 year old man I have seen these decoys for over 20 years as
my father bought some mallards , snows and blues from them that long ago.Which still look like new, only requiring a
new paint job every 15 years or so. We strive to provide the same quality if not better along with some new technology.
The Buisiness' primary services include selling duck and goose decoys. Most of our decoys have
been painted, hand painted with airbrush/brush/paint sprayer or even dipped in paint.
We are currently only
making Mallard Duck (hen and drake) and snows and blue goose. We are working on making Speckles.
With most orders, we can have them out the door in a couple of days(depending on size of order.) This is also weather permitting
and material permitting. If there is ever a problem with getting a order out we will get in touch with you and let you
know. Heck, sometimes we even throw a few extras in for the inconvenience.
One pure conclusion that
I (Dave) have come to, is that I am so glad my kids won't have to go through the trial and errors in finding what decoys
work and what don't.
